Privacy & Data

Last updated: October 2026.

This page explains what happens to information when you read Newbold Business Notes or write to us. The short answer: very little is collected, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing.

Pre-built pages, nothing more

Every page is a pre-built static file. There are no user accounts, no comment forms, no newsletter sign-up and no checkout. We run no analytics service, no advertising network and no tracking pixels, and we do not build profiles of visitors.

A single browser entry

Clicking either banner button writes your answer into local storage, which is why the banner stays hidden on later pages. The entry is kept on your own device, is never transmitted to us and carries nothing that identifies you. Clearing your browser's site data removes it. More detail is on How Cookies Help Here.

What the host's servers note down

The site is served by a hosting provider. Like almost any web server, its infrastructure records basic technical data when a page is requested: IP address, date and time, the page requested, browser type and similar request details. These logs are used to deliver pages, keep the service secure and diagnose faults. They are kept for a limited period under the provider's own retention rules, and we do not use them to identify or follow individual readers.

Email

If you write to notes@newboldrfc.com, we receive your address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to reply and to deal with your request, for example a correction. We keep correspondence only as long as it is useful for that purpose, then delete it. We never add you to a mailing list.

Legal basis

Where the EU or UK GDPR applies, server logs are processed on the basis of legitimate interest in running a secure website, and emails on the basis of legitimate interest in answering the person who wrote to us.

Your rights

Data protection law in many places, including the EU and the UK, may entitle you to:

  • find out which personal details we hold on you and get a copy;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data deleted;
  • object to or restrict certain processing;
  • complain to your data protection authority.

Send an email if you want to exercise any of them. In practice the only personal data we might hold is an email thread, and we will act on your request promptly.

Outside services and links

Articles contain links to other websites. Once you follow one, that site's own privacy policy applies, and we have no control over what it collects.

Children

Our readers are adults, and we do not knowingly gather any details from children.

When this page gets revised

If the way the site works changes, for instance if a new feature needs data, this page will be revised first and the date at the top will move. The The Legal Small Print cover the rest of the rules for using the site.
